CAPITALIZE GIVEN EXTENDED PR BRIEF FOR NATIONAL SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009
The event, which will showcase the best of British talent, follows the highly successful Hi-Tec World Championships held recently in Manchester and is expected to feature all of the top English players including Vicky Botwright, who sensationally reached the final of the Women’s World Open in her last ever WISPA event. Botwright, who retired from the main tour to take up the position of Head Coach at Manchester, will be hoping to go one better at the Nationals in front of her home crowd.
However, she will face stiff competition from defending champion Alison Waters and Jenny Duncalf, the latter having this week reached an all time high ranking of fifth in the world. In the men’s event world number 5 James Willstrop will be looking to retain his crown but will be up against tough challenges from Nick Matthew, Adrian Grant and Peter Barker.
Jim Quigley, Head of Major Sports Events and Partnerships, Manchester City Council said, “We are very pleased to have Capitalize taking on this additional responsibility and we look forward to their hands-on support during the event itself, in addition to their PR support which goes from strength to strength each year and takes the sport of squash into new areas of the media. Squash is currently enjoying an exciting transformation and with the players that will be in Manchester for the National Championships, we can expect some spectacular action on court.”
Jonathon Bates, Account Director, Capitalize, said, “Having recently worked on The Hi-Tec World Squash Championships – Manchester 2008 we are looking forward to working on the Nationals to ensure the sport continues to grow its increasing media profile. Working on both the press office and PR will allow us to streamline the event’s communications and develop a comprehensive campaign which will bring the sport to as wide an audience as possible.”
